Communications specialist

Can you turn a great event into a must-attend event? And can you attract the people we don’t know (yet)? Join EAGE and help us bring fresh audiences, strong stories and memorable event experiences together.

EAGE is a global professional, not-for-profit association for geoscientists and engineers with 18,000+ members worldwide. EAGE’s main activities consist of organizing conferences, workshops, exhibitions and courses worldwide. EAGE’s main goal is to share knowledge, promote innovation and technical progress, and to foster communication, fellowship and cooperation between those working in, studying or otherwise being interested in these fields.
We have offices in The Netherlands (headquarters in Bunnik), Dubai, Kuala Lumpur and Bogotá.

We are looking for a curious, creative go-getter. Someone who asks good questions, sees opportunities others miss and is not afraid to try something new. You bring ideas, energy and a genuine interest in people — not just another marketing checklist.

Your Role
You will shape how we position, promote and present our international events. Working with event managers, designers and partners, you will connect with our existing community, discover new audiences and make every event feel unmistakably EAGE.

Your Responsibilities

  • Find the story behind each event and turn it into clear, compelling messages and content.
  • Know your audience: Identify who we want to attract, understand what motivates them to attend, and tailor the marketing strategy, messages and channels to reach them effectively.
  • Build and deliver smart campaigns that reach familiar audiences—and attract the people we don’t know (yet)—through digital channels, partners, universities, speakers and networks.
  • Work with event teams to choose the right approach for each topic, audience and market, then learn from the results.
  • Bring the EAGE brand to life on site, from signage and stages to sponsor visibility and the overall attendee experience.
  • Use audience insights and campaign results to see what works—and improve what does not.
  • Keep event websites and digital content fresh, accurate and persuasive.

Your profile

  • You are creative, proactive and full of ideas — but also practical enough to make them happen.
  • You are a collaborative self-starter with an eye for detail, a feel for branding and the energy to juggle several events.
  • At least 2 years of experience with marketing campaigns, email, CRM, social media or digital advertising.
  • An understanding of target audiences, positioning and how to choose the right channels.
  • A feel for branding and visual communication; Adobe experience is a plus.
  • Comfort with measuring campaign performance; Google Analytics or advertising-platform experience is a plus.
  • You have excellent writing and communication skills in English - C2 profession.
  • You have a BsC+ education and at least 2 years of working experience.
  • Event marketing or on-site branding experience is a plus — not a must.

Our offer

  • A competitive salary based on experience.
  • Annual personal training budget.
  • 15 consecutive working days of paid vacation
  • Mandatory affiliations to EPS (Health) and ARL (Occupational Risk), plus the company-provided private medical plan, Colsanitas.
  • The mandatory pension scheme is affiliated with a legally recognized Pension Fund. The contribution is shared, with the employer paying 75% and the employee paying 25% of the total mandated contribution amount.
  • Working from home for 40% of your working hours, with at least 3 contact moments in the office.
  • International and dynamic environment.

As part of the selection process, candidates may be invited to complete a DISC behavioural assessment and a short practical assignment, outlining their proposed marketing and communication approach for a sample event.
